THE MELTDOWN - Friday January 24 - at the 7th annual Icebreakers Comedy Festival returns to the upstairs of Corks Winebar & Eatery to offend the masses. Our very own foul mouthed festival founder Jeff Paul hosts this lineup of degenerates including Patrick Hakeem, Laura Leibow and Alex Pavone.
**Warning: Mature Content**
Jeff Paul brings a care free, no holds barred attitude, and razor sharp wit to every stage he performs on. No topic is off limits and his unmistakable charm has allowed him to push the limits of comedy for years, making him one of the country’s favourite comedians. Jeff’s act is based on his life observations, resulting in raw, often embarrassing stories of failed relationships, his physical appearance and drugs and alcohol.
He will keep you laughing from start to finish. In addition to being a Yuk Yuk’s regular, Jeff was selected for New Faces at JFL42 in Toronto, accepted to the Sudbury Comedy Festival (2016, 2017), headlined the Cottage Country Comedy Festival, was chosen twice to showcase for COCA, has been featured twice in the NXNE Festival and can be seen hosting his weekly Dope N’ Mic show at Toronto’s famed Underground Comedy Club.
He also founded the Icebreakers Comedy Festival in his hometown of Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Patrick Hakeem is a comic from Montreal now based in Toronto. He has performed at JFL42, Zoofest and NXNE festivals. He has also been featured on SiriusXM.
Hakeem’s high energy demands your full fixation. His brutal honesty, vulnerability, and his ability to have fun with the audience leaves them wanting more.
Laura Leibow has used her acerbic wit and laid back style to become a promising fresh face on the Canadian stand-up comedy scene. She is the editor of the comedy website "UNoriginal", a signed Yuk Yuk’s comedian, and is frequently played on SiriusXM.
Laura has performed at JFL42, She-Devil Comedy Festival, the Sacramento Comedy Festival, and excited for the Icebreakers Comedy Festival.
Laura has been impressing crowds in clubs and theatres from Toronto to New York since debuting in 2015, and has performed at legendary clubs like the Improv in LA, Gotham Comedy Club and Broadway Comedy Club in NYC, and Helium in Buffalo. In January 2019, Laura and her sister launched a successful podcast called “Family Therapy” which attempts to show that the dark and comedic sides of mental illness are not mutually exclusive.
The high-energy, take-no-prisoners, comedy of Alex Pavone is not to be missed. A super-honest storyteller, Alex uses his Italian background and colourful acquaintances to weave a laugh-filled web of comic excitement.
Born and raised in Woodbridge, Ontario, Pavone has been making crowds laugh since 2007. Alex has been featured on CBC, MuchMusic and SiriusXM radio. He has performed at festivals like the HUBCAP Comedy Festival, LOL Sudbury, JFL42 and Montreal's Just For Laughs, as well as historic venues such as the Danforth Music Hall and Massey Hall on New Years Eve.
Alex has performed at comedy clubs and colleges all over North America and moved to New York City in 2014. He has worked with some of the biggest names in the business and has opened for Bobby Lee and Bill Burr.
But Alex Pavone needs to be seen to be believed. His is definitely a star on the rise.
